A man can complete a journey in 9hrs.in first half he walks at a distance of 4km/hr and in second half he walks for 5km/hr.calculate the total journey

Given that,
The total time to complete a journey = 9 hr.

Let the total distance of the path as x km.
and the time taken to complete ½ the distance at 4 km/hr. = y hr.

So, y × 4 = x/2
or, y = x/8

Also the time taken to complete the rest of the distance at 5 km/hr = z km.

So, z × 5 = x/2
or, z = x/10

From this we can write
y + z = 9
or, x/8 + x/10 = 9
or, (10x + 8x)/80 = 9
or, 18x = 80 × 9
or, 2x = 80
or, x = 40 km.

So the length of the total journey is 40 km.
