Solution:

Given:

A man can jump 1.5 metre heigh on the earth calculate the approximate height he might be able to jump on a planet whose density is one - quarter that of earth and whose radius is one-third of the earth radius

Find:

Calculate the approximate height.

Calculations:

g = 4/3 π G.P

g¹ = 4/3 π G.P "P" = on planet.

R¹ = R/3

P¹ = P/4

g¹ = 4/3 π G × R/3 × P/4 = 1/2 × 4/3 π G.P

g¹ = 1/12 g

mg'h' = mgh

m × 1/12 g × h'= mgh

h'× 12h = 12 × 1.5 = 18 m

Therefore, 18 m is the right answer.
