Let x and y be speed of man upstream and downstream.
5/x + 3/y = 35 ...(1)
2/x + 4/y = 28 ...(2)
Solving (1) & (2),
x = 1/4 km/hr
y = 1/5 km/hr
Speed of man in still water -
v = (x+y)/2
v = (1/4 + 1/5) / 2
v = 9/40 km/hr
Therefore, speed of man in still water is 9/40 km/hr.
