Velocity of man = 8 kmph

Velocity of river = 4 kmph

Let man moves at α angle.

We need to calculate the angle

According to figure

Horizontal component of man equal to the horizontal velocity of river

So, v_{m}\sin\alpha=v_{r}

\sin\alpha=\dfrac{v_{r}}{v_{m}}

Put the value into the formula

\sin\alpha=\dfrac{4}{8}

\sin\alpha=\dfrac{1}{2}

\alpha=\sin^{-1}(\dfrac{1}{2})

\alpha=30^{\circ}

The angle of flow of water is

\theta=90+\alpha

Put the value into the formula

\theta=90+30=120^{\circ}

Hence, The angle is 120° to flow of water.
