Let the distance be 2x

Find the time needed to cover the first part of the journey:

Speed = 40km/h

Distance = x

Time = Distance ÷ Speed

Time = x/40

Find the time needed to cover the second part of the journey:

Speed = 60km/h

Distance = x

Time = Distance ÷ Speed

Time = x/60

Solve x:

The total duration is 8 hours

x/40 + x/60 = 8

x/24  = 8

x = 192 km

Find the length of the journey:

Total distance = 2x = 2 (192) = 384 km

Answer: The whole journey is 384 km

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

see everything is doubled ok

speed = 40 km/ hr + 60 km/hr

distance × + ×

time = x + x=8 hours

speed =distance / time

40 + 60 = 2x /8

100 = 2×/8

2×= 8×100

2×= 800

x=800/2

×=400 correct answer

check it anywhere and do others
