let the total distance of 136 km be divided into two smaller distances d1 and d2. such that d1 +d2=136
according to the question some part was covered at 15 kmph let that distance be d1.
so distance = speed x time
d1 =15t1 where t1 is the time taken to cover distance d1
similarly d2=18t2 t2 is time to cover distance d2
since total time is 8 hours that means t1 +t2 =8
also if we substitute values of d1 and d2 in our first equation then we get 15t1 +18t2=136
solve the two equations simultaneously.
t1 =8/3 and t2 = 16/3
d1= 15t1 and d2 =18t2
d1=40 and d2=96
