A man covers a distance with speed \mathtt{v_{1}} and \mathtt{v_{2}}

for two equal time period. Find the average speed of the man.

\blue{\large\underline{\underline\mathtt{Solution:}}}

Let the time in both the cases be x.

[\because It is given that the time period is equal in both thr cases.]

\underline\mathtt{We\:know}

\red{\boxed{\rightarrow Average\:speed = \dfrac{Total\:distance}{Total\:time}}}

Given,

  • \mathtt{distance = v_{1} and v_{2}}
  • \mathtt{time = x}

Putting the value in the Formula ,we get:-

Rightarrow Average\:speed = \dfrac{v_{1} + v_{2}}{x + x}

\Rightarrow Average\:speed = \dfrac{v_{1} + v_{2}}{2x}

\green{\boxed{\mathtt{\therefore Average\:speed = \dfrac{v_{1} + v_{2}}{2x}}}}
