Thus the velocity of man is 12.5 m/s

Explanation:

Let the velocity of the river  = v

Let V1 be the velocity of river in still water.

The time is specified which is 10 min or w/v1 = 10

Whereas the drift in this case will be

X=Vt

120=10 vt

The shortest path taken when vb is along ab is

vb=root over v21-v2

W/vb  = 12.5 m/s

Thus the velocity of man is 12.5 m/s
