Hello Dear,

◆ Answer -

v = 9.6 km/hr

◆ Explanation -

Let x be the distance to be travelled & t be the time required to reach office in first case.

In 1st case,

8 = x / t

∴ x = 8t ...(1)

In 2nd case,

12 = x / t-2

∴ x = 12(t-2) ...(2)

Equating (1) & (2),

8t = 12(t-2)

8t = 12t - 24

4t = 24

t = 6 hrs

Putting this in (1),

x = 8t

x = 8 × 6

x = 48 km

When he have to reach at 10 am,

v = x / t-1

v = 48 / (6-1)

v = 48 / 5

v = 9.6 km/hr

Therefore, the man have to cycle at the speed of 9.6 km/hr to reach office at 10 am.

Hope this is helpful.
