Step-by-step explanation:

Let sum be Rs. x

As we know,

SI = Prt/100

According to the question

(x × 5 × 7)/100 – (x × 3 × 9)/100 = 475

⇒ (35x – 27x)/100 = 475

⇒ 8x/100 = 475

⇒ x = 475 × (100/8)

⇒ x = 5937.5

Short Trick:

Let the sum be 100%

According to the question

⇒ 35% - 27% = 475

⇒ 8% = 475

⇒ 100% = 475/8 × 100 = 5937.5
