Let the whole property be rsx
One's share=x/2
2nd share=x/4
3rd share=x/5
4th share=x-x/2-x/4-x/5
=(20x-10x-5x-4x)÷20
=x/20=9000
x=180000

Question :

A man divides his property among his sons so that one gets half , another gets quarter, third gets one fifth and fourth gets rupees 9000 . Find the value of property.

Answer :

The value of the property is Rs.180000.

Given :

One son gets half

Second one gets quarter

Third one gets one fifth

Fourth one gets Rs.9000

To find :

Value of property

Solution :

Let the value of property be Rs.x

Hence,

First son gets Rs. x/2

Second son gets Rs. x/4

Third son gets Rs. x/5

Fourth son gets Rs.9000

According to the problem,

=> x = x/2 + x/4 + x/5 + 9000

=> x - x/2 - x/4 - x/5 = 9000

=> ( 20x - 10x - 5x - 4x ) /20 = 9000

=> x / 20 = 9000

=> x = 9000 × 20

=> x = 180000

Hence,the value of the property is Rs.180000.
