Given:

A man divides his property like

  • 1/5 to whole properties to first son
  • Remainder of properties 1/3 to second son
  • Remainder of properties 3/8 to third son
  • And to wife he gave ₹00.

To find:

Total property of the man.

Solution:

1) Let the total property of the man is ₹120 (which is LCM of 5, 3, 8 this make the question easy to solve)

2) 1/5 to whole properties to first son means 1/5 of 120 = ₹24

3) Remainder of properties 1/3 to second son means

  • 1/3 of (120-24) = 1/3 of 96 = ₹32

4) Remainder of properties 3/8 to third son means

  • 3/8 of (96-32) = 3/8 of 64 = ₹24

5) So money left for his wife would be 64-24 = ₹40.

6) But according to the question the wife get ₹00

  • so 40 >> 0
  •      1   >> 0/40
  •  120  >> 0×120
  • property is ₹00

Total property of the man is ₹00.
