Given :-

Total distance traveled = 315 miles

Total time taken = 5 hours

To Find :-

The distance traveled in 9 hours.

Solution :-

{\sf{\huge{\underline{\underline{\orange{Ist\: Case}}}}}}

First let's find out the rate of speed of the man .

We know that ,

{\sf{Speed\: =\: {\dfrac{Distance}{Time}}}}

On inserting the values in the formula

We get ,

{\sf{Speed\: =\: {\dfrac{315\: miles}{5\: hr}}}}

{\sf{\implies\: Speed\: =\:63\: miles/hr}}

Given that speed is same in second case

{\sf{\huge{\underline{\underline{\orange{IInd\: Case}}}}}}

Speed = 63 miles/hr

Time taken = 9 hours

{\sf{Distance=\: speed\: \times\: Time}}

On inserting the values in the formula

We get ,

{\sf{Distance=\: 63\: \times\: 9}}

{\sf{Distance=\: 567\: miles}}

Therefore, Distance traveled in 9 hours is 567 miles

Correct Question

  • A man drove his car a distance of 315 miles in 5 hours. If continuing at this rate is possible, how much he will travel in 9 hours.

Given

  • A car travels a distance of 315 miles in 5 hours.

To find

  • Distance travelled by the car in 9 hours with the same speed.

❍ Firstly, we have to find the speed of the car.

  • Using Formula

\large{\boxed{\boxed{\sf{Speed = \dfrac{Distance}{Time}}}}}

\tt\longmapsto{Speed = \dfrac{315}{5}}

\bf\longmapsto{Speed = 63}

  • We have, speed = 63 miles/hr

❍ Calculating the distance travelled by the car in 9 hours.

  • Using Formula

\large{\boxed{\boxed{\sf{Distance = Speed \times Time}}}}

\tt\longmapsto{Distance = 63 \times 9}

\bf\longmapsto{Distance = 567}

Hence,

  • The distance travelled by the car in 9 hours is 567 miles.
