Given  : A man finds that a point o of an angle of elevation from his eyes to a corner of a flat roof of a building is 25 °

when he walks 10 metres from o directly towards the building the angle of elevation of the same roof corner increases to 35°.

To Find :   How far is the point o from the building.

Solution:

Let say building height = h

Distance  of point o from  the building. = d

Tan 25° = h/d

h = d tan25°

Tan 35° = h/(d-10)

h = (d -10)tan35°

(d -10)tan35° = d tan25°

=> d - 10  = d(0.666)

=>  0.334d  = 10

=> d = 29.94

the point o from the building. is 29.94    m
