Given: A man gave 30% of his money to his wife, 40% of the remaining to his son and the remaining money equally to his three daughters.

To find: We have to find the share of the wife.

Solution:

Let the man has a total of 100 rupees.

He gave 30% of his money to his wife.

So, the wife gets 30 rupees.

40% of the remainder to his son which means he gave (100-30)×40/100=28 rupees to his son.

Now the remaining amount is

70 - 28 = 42

The remaining money is equally distributed to his three daughters.

Thus each daughter gets 42/3=14 rupees.

Now given that each daughter gets 224 rupees.

So, the wife will get-

224 \times \frac{30}{14} = 480

The wife gets 480 rupees.
