let x be the original money the man had
x \times \ \frac{65}{100} \times \frac{60}{100} = 11700 \\ \\ x = 30000

Answer:$30000

Step-by-step explanation:Let, he had initially $100

He gave 35%to his son.

So, 100-(100*35/100)= 65 remained

Again he gave 40% from this amount to another son

So, 65-(65*40/100)=39

Now this remaining 39 units equals to $11700

So, 39 units=11700

1 unit= 11700/39

Total 100 units= 11700*100/39

=30000
