Given:-

  • Man gives half of salery to his wife.
  • He gives half of remaining to his son
  • He gives half of remaining to his daughter
  • Money left to man is ₹500

To find:

  • Salary of man?

Solution:

Let suppose that total salary of man is x.

Now, as per given that he gave half salary to his wife.

So, remaining salary of man = 50% of x = 50x/100 = x/2

Now, he given 50% of remaining to his son.

So, remaining money = 50% of x/2 = 50x/100×2 = x/4

Now, he gives 50% of remaining to his daughter.

So, remaining money = 50% of x/4 = 50x/100×4 = x/8

Now, we have found that man have total remaining money is x/8 but in question, it is given that man have ₹500 remaining. So can we compare x/8 to 500? Yes definitely we can compare.

Comparing :-

\dfrac{x}{8}\:=\: 500

\implies{x\:=\: 500×8}

\implies{x\:=\:4000}

So from here, we found that x is equal to 4000 and we have supposed that total income of man is x.

Therefore,

  • Total salary of man = ₹4000 ( option C)
