Assume the path traveled by the man as a triangle.

As the man goes in straight path and turns at the angle of 90°, by Pythagoras Theorem,

( hypotenuse )^2 = height^2 + base^2

hypotenuse^2 = ( 10 m )^2 + ( 24 m )^2

hypotenuse^2 = 100 m^2 + 576 m^2

hypotenuse^2 = 676 m^2

hypotenuse = 26 m

Therefore the total distance covered by the man is 26 m
