A Man goes 10m due east and then 24 m due north.find the distance from the starting point

not able to understand...
if that's the question...according to me that is 10+24=34
but the question is something wrong..

First the man covers a distance of 10 m in the east and then turns north and walks 24 m
Thus this forms a right angled triangle when we join the origin That is the starting point and the final point.
By solving further by using the Pythagoras Theorem we will get the answer.
The distance between the starting and the ending point is 26 m.
