when he walk 10 m south he is moving to another point
let that point be B
when he walks 24m west he is again moving to a point
let that point be C
CA is the desired distance
so:-
AB^2 + BC^2=CA^2
10^2 + 24^2 = CA^2
100+576=CA^2
676=CA^2
√676=√CA^2
26=CA
the man is 26 meters away from the starting point.
