We can solve this by using Pythagoras Theorem

Let take,
OE,base = 12m
EN,hypotenuse = 35m
& NO,perpendicular = ?

 {p}^{2} = {h}^{2} - {b }^{2} \\ = > p = \sqrt{ {35}^{2} - {12}^{2} } \\ = > p = \sqrt{1225 - 144} \\ = > p = \sqrt{1081} \\ = > p = 32.88m
So, he is 32.88 far from his original position.
