A man goes 12 metre east and then goes 5 metere north find his shortest distance from starting point ?

it is forming an rigt trainagle

therefore by using Pythagoras theorem- we can find shortest path.

x²=12²+5²

x²=169

x=√169

x=13m

ABC is right angled triangle ,

By Pythagoras property of triangle

AC² = BC² + AB²

AC² = 12² + 5²

AC²= 144 + 25

AC² = 169

AC²= 13²

AC = 13 cm

 Shortest distance from starting point = 13cm
