A man goes 18 m due east and then 24 m north. How far is he away from the initial

Using Pythagoras theorem

AC2 = AB2 + BC2 = (18)2 + (24)2 = 324 + 576 = 900 AC = √(900) = 30 m

∴ The distance from the starting point is 30 m.
