A man goes 5 m in east and then 12 m in north direction. Find the distance from the starting point .

if u will draw the diagram according to map then u will get a right angled triangle because directions are perpendicular to each other.

Let the distance from the starting point be x meter.

Using pythagoras theorem:

The x distance will be the hypotenus.

therefore,

x^2=12^2+5^2

x^2=144+25

x^2=169

x=13 meter.

THEREFORE THE DISTANCE FROM STARTING POINT IS

13 METER....
