Find out :

Find original salary

Solution :

Let the original salary be Rs. x

*Increase in salary*

➪ 10% of Rs.x

➪ 10/100 × x

➪ x/10

Original salary + increase in salary = New salary

➪ x + x/10 = 1,54,000

➪ 10x + x/10 = 1,54,000

➪ 11x/10 = 1,54,000

➪ x = 10 × 1,54,000/11

➪ x = 1,40,000

Hence ,

  • Original salary = Rs.1,40,000

Let the original salary of the man be ' s '

It is given that, he got 10% increase in his salary and his new salary is Rs. 1,54,000.

That is,

= s + ( 10/100)s

= s + 0.1s

= 1.1s

Now,

1.1s = 1,54,000 ( increased salary )

⇒ s = 1,54,000/1.1

⇒ s = 1,54,0000/11

∴ s = 1,40,000

Hence,

His original salary was Rs. 1,40,000.
