Total amount a man Lent : Rs 16000

A part of Rs 16000 he had lent at 8% per annum : Rs X
Interest for Rs X : 8X / 100......(1)

Second part of Rs 16000 he had lent at 9% per annum : Rs (16000 - X)
Interest for Rs (16000 - X) : 9(16000) / 100) ... (2)

Total amount from Interest : Rs 1340............ (3)

By statement it was achieved from (1), (2) & (3)
= (8X / 100) + [9(16000 - X) / 100] = 1340
= 8X + 144000 - 9X = 134000
= (-X) = (134000 - 144000)
= (-X) = (- 10000)
= X = 10000
THEREFORE A MAN LENT AT 8% IS Rs 10000
