Given,

The man has 512 cigarette ends.

1 cigarette can be made from 8 cigarette ends.

To find,

Total number of cigarettes that can be made (or, number of cigarettes that he can smoke) from the available number of cigarette ends.

Solution,

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process.

Here, we just need to divide the total number of cigarette ends by the number of cigarette ends needed to make 1 cigarette, to get the total number of cigarettes that can be made.

So,

Total number of cigarettes that can be made :

= Total number of cigarette ends ÷ Cigarette ends needed for making one cigarette

= 512÷8

= 64

Division work :

8) 512 (64

ㅤ48

_______

ㅤㅤ32

ㅤㅤ32

________

ㅤㅤ x

Hence, he can smoke 64 cigarettes with the available cigarette ends.
