Answer:

Let no of chickens be

x

& roots be y then,

x+y=30 ____ (1)

2x+4y=84 ____ (2)

solving above 2 equation

x+y=30

x+2y=42

- -

y=12

&

x=18

x:y=3:2

Answer:

Ratio of chickens to goats = 3:2.

Step-by-step explanation:

C = number of chickens and G = number of goats.

Chickens have 2 legs and goats have 4 legs.

C + G = 30

2C + 4G = 84

Multiply  the first equation by 2:

2C + 2G = 60

Subtract this from the second equation:

2G = 24

G = 12

So C = 30 - 12 = 18.

The required ratio is  18:12 = 3:2.
