The number of  ducks is 15 and number of chicken is 45

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of ducks =x

Let the number of chicken = 3 x

Cost of 1 duck = $10

Cost of x ducks = $ 10 x

Cost of 1 chicken = $6

Cost of x chickens  = $6(3 x)=$ 18x

Now according to question the total cost of ducks and chickens is $420

we have

10x+ 18x = 420 \\\\\Rightarrow 28x= 420 \\\\\Rightarrow x= 15

Therefore number of  ducks = 15

number of  chickens= 15 x 3 = 45

Hence, the number of  ducks is 15 and number of chicken is 45
