He alloted his property as follows:
 \frac{1}{4} to his wife
= 25% to his wife
and
 \frac{1}{5} per daughter (he has two daughters)
= 20% to each
= 40% to daughters in all
What's left is donated.
Hence,
property left = {100 - (40 + 25)}%
                    = 35%
  He donated 35% (or  \frac{7}{20} ) of his property to charity.

mukesh3: wrong 35% goes to his familt
mukesh3: sorry family
HelpingHand: Friend 1/4 + 2/5 = (5/20 + 8/20) [ taking 20 as L.C.M.] = 13/20 and not 7/20. { 7/20 is what's left}

add 1/4+2/5=7/20
13/20=charity
13/20*100=65%
