Number of steps are 30

Explanation:

  • Whenever body is raised to a height then an energy get store in it known as potential energy which is given as product of weight of body and height of body up to which it is raised
  • Power is defined as the rate of change of energy applied to any body and is given as

                                    Power = \frac{Energy}{Time}

Given, Power of man = 90 W

mass of man = 60 kg

Time taken to run up staircase = 40 sec

Height of one step = 20 cm = 0.2 m

let the total number of steps = x

Energy stored = potential energy when moved up

Potential energy for one step = m g h

Potential energy for all steps = x(m g h)

=> Power = \frac{Energy}{Time}

=> 90 = \frac{x (mgh)}{40}

=> 90 * 40 = x(m g h)

=> 3600 = x (60*10*0.2)          ( let g=10 m/s²)

=> x = 3600/120

=> x = 30

There are total 30 steps
