let there be x buffaloes and y ducks

x + y = 70 =  > x = 70 - y

and

4x + 2y = 200

2x + y = 100

2(70 - y)  + y = 100

140 - 70y + y = 100

Answer:

The no. of buffaloes is 30

Explanaton:

number of ducks+ buffaloes = 70

therefore,

number of buffaloes = 70 - no. of ducks

therefore, b = 70 - d

putting the value of B in equation no. 2

4(70 - d) + 2d = 200

=> 280-4d+2d=200

=>-2d=200-280

=>2d=80

=> d=40

putting the value of d in no. 1

b+40=70

=>b=70-40

=>b=30

therefore the number of buffaloes with the man is 30
