Answer:
Step-by-step explanation:
let the total investment be Rs x
investment in first kind of shares=60*x/100 = RS3x/5
investment in second kind of share = Rs(x -3x/5) = Rs2x/5
no. of shares of first kind bought = 3x/5*100 = 3x/550
no. of shares of second kind bought = 2x/5*60 = x/150
face value of 1 share of first kind = Rs100
face value of 3x/550 shares of first kind = RS6x/11
dividend earned from first kind of shares = 10% of Rs6x/11
=Rs 3x/55 ----(1)
face value of 1 share of second kind = Rs50
face value of x/150 of second kind = Rs x/3
dividend earned from second kind of shares = 20% of rsx/3 = rs x/15 -----(2)
from (1) and (2), we get,3x/55 + x/15 = 2000
= 9x + 11x/165 = 2000
= x= 2000*165/20 = 16500
(1) his total investment = rs16500
(2)no. of shares of first kind he bought = 3x/550 = 3*16500/550 = 90
(3) no. of shares of second kind he bought = x/150 = 16500/150 =110
∴total no. of shares that he bought = 90+110 = 200
