Step-by-step explanation:

Given

A man invested 1/3 of his capital at 7 percent and 1 /4 at 8 percent  and the remainder at 10 percent p a  if his annual income is Rs 561, the capital is

  • Let the total capital be Rs x
  • So x/3 x 7 x 1 / 100 + x/4 x 8 x 1 / 100 + (1 – 1/3 – 1/4)x x 10 x / 100 = 561
  •    7x / 3 + 2x + 5x / 12 x 10 = 561 x 1001 x
  •      14 x + 12 x + 25 x / 6 = 561 x 100
  •      51 x = 561 x 100 x 6
  • Therefore x = 336600 / 51

So x = Rs 6600
