Let the present age of his son be X years.

So, present age of his father = X+24 (as he is 24 years older than his son)

After 2 years, father's age become (X+24+2) years and Son's age will be (X+2).

Now, according to question,

X+24+2 = 2*(X +2)

Or, X = 22 years.

Son's present age = 22 years.

Step-by-step explanation:

let present age of son = x

let present age of father =y

According to question x + 24 = y

x - y = -24..... 1 st equation

After two years

sons age=x + 2

fathers age = y + 2

y + 2 = 2 ( x + 2 )

y + 2 = 2x + 4

y - 2x = 2...... 2nd equation

on solving this equations we get

x = 22 years

y = 46 years
