Let the son's present age be x years. Then, man's present age = (x + 24) years.

 (x + 24) + 2 = 2(x + 2)

 x + 26 = 2x + 4

 x = 22.

Answer:

x = 8 years

y = 32 years

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the daughter's age be x years

&

father's age be y years

  • y = 24 + x ------- 1st equation

y + 4 = 3(x + 4)

  • y = 3x + 8 ------- 2nd equation

24 + x = 3x + 8

x - 3x = 8 - 24

2x = 16

x = 16/2

x = 8

Therefore y = 32 years
