let son's age be x and that of father's be y .

According to the question,

x + 28 = y.......(1)

5(x +3) = y+3

5x + 15 = x +31

4x = 16

x = 4

thus, y = 32

Hope it helps!

Let the present age of son be x

∴ Present age of father = x + 28

After 3 years,

Age of son = x + 3

Age of father = x + 28 + 3 = x + 31

According to the given condition

5(x + 3) = x + 31

☛ 5x + 15 = x + 31

☛ 5x - x = 31 - 15

☛ 4x = 16

∴ x = 4

∴ Present age of son ☛ x

∴ Present age of father ☛ x + 28
