<u>Your Question -</u>

A man is three times as old as his son. After 15 years, he will be only twice as old as his son. Find their present ages.

<u>Solution -</u>

Let the son's age be 'x'.
Then, man's age = 3 × x = 3x

After 15 years from now,

Son's age = x + 15
Man's age = 3x + 15

But, the man will be twice as old as his son after 15 years.

So, father's age after 15 years = twice son's age after 15 years

=> 3x + 15 = 2(x + 15)

=> 3x + 15 = 2x + 30

=> 3x - 2x = 30 - 15

=> x = 15

So, son's age = x = 15
Father's age = 3x = 15 × 3 = 45

<marquee>Hence, man's present age is 45 years.

And, his son's present age is 15 years.</marquee>
