Let the age of man be x
wife's be y
and son's be z
•man is three times older than his wife.
x = 3 + y ....... ( i )
• Man is four times as old as his son
x = 4z ..... ( ii )
• Son age after 3 years is 15
z + 3 = 15
z = 15 - 3
z = 12
Putting the value of z in ( ii )
x = 4z
x = 4 × 12
x = 48
Putting the value of x in ( i )
x = 3 + y
48 = 3 + y
48 - 3 = y
45 = y
