Given:-

A man is 30 years older than his son.

He will be 3 times as old as his son after 12 years .

To find:-

Their present ages.

Solution:-

Let the age of son be "x"years and father age be " y" years.

Then,age of father is(y) = 30 + x

After 12 years :-

Son age will be = x + 12 years

Father age will be (y+12) = 3(x+12) years

According to question:-

y = 30 + x --------eq. 1

y+12 = 3x + 36 -----------eq. 2

From eq. 1 and 2 . we get,

\implies 30 + x + 12 = 3x + 36

\implies 42 + x = 3x + 36

\implies 42 - 36 = 3x - x

\implies 6 = 2x

\implies x = 3

put the value of x in eq. 1.

y = 33

hence, son present age is 3 years

Father present age is 33 years.
