To find:-

Their present ages.

Solution:-

Let the age of son be "x"years and father age be " y" years.

Then,age of father is(y) = 30 + x

After 12 years :-

Son age will be = x + 12 years

Father age will be (y+12) = 3(x+12) years

According to question:-

y = 30 + x --------eq. 1

y+12 = 3x + 36 -----------eq. 2

From eq. 1 and 2 . we get,

$\implies$ $30 + x + 12 = 3x + 36$

$\implies$ $42 + x = 3x + 36$

$\implies$ $42 - 36 = 3x - x$

$\implies$ $6 = 2x$

$\implies$ $x = 3$

put the value of x in eq. 1.

y = 33

hence, son present age is 3 years

Father present age is 33 years.
