• ∴ The age of his father will be: x + 30

Ages of Son & Father after 12 years:

• Age of son in 12 years: x + 12
• Age of father: 3(x + 12)

We know that,

⇒ 3(Age of son in 12 years) = Fathers age at present + 12 years

⇒ 3(x + 12) = x + 30 + 12

⇒ 3x + 36 = x + 42

⇒ 3x - x = 42 - 36

⇒ 2x = 6

⇒ x = 3

Son's Present age:

= x

= 3 years old.

Fathers Present age:

= x + 30

= 3 + 30

= 33 years old.
