Given:

  • We have been given that the age of a Man is 35 years and that of his son is 7 years

To Find:

  • After how many years will the son be half old as old as his father

Solution:

Age of Man = 35 years

Age of his son = 7 years

Let after x years the son's age become the half of that of father

Hence After x years

Age of Man = ( x + 35 ) years

Age of his son = ( x + 7 ) years

According to the Question

=> ( x + 7 ) = ( x + 35 ) / 2

=> 2( x + 7 ) = ( x + 35 )

=> 2x + 14 = x + 35

=> 2x - x = 35 - 14

=> x = 21

After 21 years :

Age of Man ( x + 35 ) = 21 + 35 = 56

Age of Son ( x + 7 ) = 21 + 7 = 28

Clearly !!!

Age of son = (Age of Father)/2

_______________________________

After 21 years the age of son would be half of that of his father.
