Answer: son = 8 yrs

man = 32 yrs

Step-by-step explanation:

let age of man be m yrs and son be s yrs

ATQ    m=4s and m+16 = 2 (s+16)

= 4s=16 = 2s + 32

= 2s = 16

= s = 8 yrs , m= 8*4 = 32 yrs

kumarsumit20002000: Is it possible that after 16 years he will be twice as old as his son
kumarsumit20002000: ?????
Saatwiik: yes it is try it out
Saatwiik: s+16 = 24 and m+16 = 48 so it is possible

Let the present age of man be x
and the present age of his son be y.
A/Q, x=4y...............1) equation
After 16years ,
Age of man=(x+16)years.
Age of his son=(y+16)years.

A/Q,

x+16=2(y+16)
x+16=2y+32
x-2y=16.................2)
4y-2y=16. {from 1)}
2y=16
y=8.

Now put this value in equation 2), we get,

x-2(8)=16
x-16=16
x=32.

So present age of man = 32 years.
and present age of his son = 8 years.
