let the age be x , then 12+x=1/2of(42+x)
12+x = 1/2of42 + 1/2of x
12+x = 21 + 1/2 of x
-9+x = 1/2ofx
-18+2x = x
x = 18.
12+x = 1/2of42 + 1/2of x
12+x = 21 + 1/2 of x
-9+x = 1/2ofx
-18+2x = x
x = 18.
