Given:

x = 6y                         ..(1)

x + 20 = 2(y+20)        ..(2)

Substituting (1) in (2):

6y + 20 = 2(y + 20)

6y + 20 = 2y + 40

6y - 2y = 40 - 20

4y = 20

y = 5.                           ..(3)

Putting (3) in (1)

x = 6(5)

x = 30

Now, the age of the man when his son was born will be =

Current age of Father - Current Age of Son

30 - 5

= 25

The age of the man was 25 when his son was born
