A man is 7 by 2 times as old as his son if the sum of the squares of their ages is 1325 find the ages of the father and the son

  let the age of son be x and age of father be 7/2*x

so sum of the squares of their ages  = 1325

therefore x^2 + (7/2*x)^2                     = 1325

              x^2 + 49/4 * x^2                    = 1325

so after calculation we get  x = 10

therefore age of son = 10

so age of father  = 7/2*x = (7*10)/2 = 70/2 = 35
