a man is 7times as old as his son now . 4years later, he will be twice as old as eight times his son then . find their present ages​

Let the present age of father and son be x and y respectively

A.T.Q(According to question)

x=7y(because age of son is 7 times that of father as given)

After 4 years...

Age of father=x+4.................(equation 1)

age of son=y+4( remember we took present age of son as y)

also,

2(x+4)=8(y+4)

or, 2x+8=8y+32

Putting value of x as 7y we get...

or,  2(7y)+8=8y+32

or, 14y+8=8y+32

or, 6y=24

or, y=4

Now putting value of y in equation 1

x=7*4

x=28

So,  present Age of Father=28

and present age of son=4
