while driving, the car is in the state of motion and so the man is in motion too. According to the 1st law of motion, an object in motion tends to be in its same state of motion until nd unless it is compelled by an external force to change its state of motion. So, when the car is being forced to stop during an accident, the driver tends to stay in motion due to which he's thrown forward .But in the presence of seat belts, the force of the push decreases nd he gets less hurt!
