Answer Let , the present age of a man = x years

and the present age of his son = y years

According to the question ,

x = 5y and x +2 = 4 ( y + 2 )

: * x + 2 = 4 ( y + 2 )

5y +2 = 4y + 8

= 5y - 4y = 8 - 2

y = 6

Hence ,

x = 5y = 5 ( 6 ) = 30

i.e. , the present age of a man = 30 years and the present age of his son = 6 years
