Answer:

ANSWER

______________________________

Let the Man's age be x years and his son's age be y years

It is given :

x = 4y -------------- (i)

After 20 years their ages will be

Man : x + 20

Son : y + 20

x + 20 = 2 ( y + 20 ) ----------------- (ii)

Substituting value of x in equation (ii) with 4y

=> 4y + 20 = 2y + 40

=> 4y - 2y = 40 - 20

=> 2y = 20

=> y = 10 years

Using in eq (i)

x = 4y

=> x = 40 years

Answer:

Let the man's age be x yrs and his son's age be y yrs .

According to the conditions ;

x = 4y ---(1)

x + 10 = 10y

x = 10y + 100 ----(2)

substituting eq (1) in eq (2)

4y = 10y + 100

-6y = 100

y = 100/ -6

but as we know yrs cannot be negative so ...

y = 1.6 ---(3)

substituting eq (3) in eq (1)

x = 4 × 1.6

x = 6.6

The man's age is 6.6 yrs and his sons age is 1.6 yrs .
